Find the Leaks

Lesson 1 of 3

The small drips that empty your pocket

A boat does not sink because of one huge wave. It sinks from a tiny hole in the bottom that nobody noticed for weeks — drip, drip, drip — until one day it is underwater.

Your money leaks the same way. It is almost never the big stuff that finishes you. It is the small, daily, forgotten spends:

  • data bundles, topped up again and again

  • a soda and a rolex here, airtime there

  • that bet you "just" placed because the odds looked good

  • one extra boda when you could have walked

Each one feels like nothing. "It is only 2,000." But watch:

2,000 a day × 30 days = 60,000 a month = 720,000 a year. That is a secondhand smartphone, or a term of school fees, or the start of a poultry business — leaking out 2,000 at a time, and you barely felt it go.

The big purchases you remember and agonise over. The small leaks you have forgotten by evening. That is exactly why the leaks cost you the most — you never see them to stop them.

Keep going — and make it count
