Every house stands on land — so that is where you start. And land has a magic of its own: it tends to appreciate. The plot you buy today in an upcoming area is often worth far more by the time you are ready to build on it. You are not just buying ground; you are buying an asset that grows while you save for the next step.
Strategy on a small salary
Buy where you can afford now, not where you dream. A plot in an upcoming peri-urban area or upcountry might cost a few million, while the same size near town costs ten times more. Buy the affordable one — the city tends to grow toward it.
Get the title — always. Cheaper land often means messier ownership. Insist on a proper title, confirm the seller really owns it, and walk the boundaries with the neighbours and a surveyor. A plot you do not truly own is a trap, not an asset — this is exactly where people get conned.
Do not buy alone if you can buy together. A plot is far cheaper bought in bulk with others — which is the whole next lesson.
Save toward a clear number: a Land goal of, say, 4,000,000. At 100,000 a month that is reachable in under four years on your own — and much faster in a group.
